Bassel Gamal and Qatar Islamic Bank recognised as Best CEO and Best Managed Bank in Qatar

Group CEO Bassel Gamal, has led Qatar Islamic Bankbecome one of the most customer-centric and efficient banks in Qatar and the Middle East. The bank increased market share approaching 20% in key retail products and services while the operating income of retail operations has grown by a compound annual growth rate of over 12% over the last three years.

Qatar Islamic Bank became the first in the country to introduce a fully digital account for domestic workers, allowing them to perform all transactions via the mobile app and the first bank to achieve 100% digital automation in payroll services.

Gamal has helped built the bank to become the most innovative, digitally advanced bank in the country. During 2021, it has seen a 20% increase of retail mobile app registrations and 50% increase in monthly financial transactions performed through the app while branch transactions have fallen by 68% since the beginning of 2020.

For key retail products, digital sales through the mobile app contribute more than 50% of total sales volume.

Under his leadership, Qatar Islamic Bank is also recognised as the Best Managed Bank in Qatar.

The CEO Leadership Achievement for the Qatar Award goes to Group CEO of Qatar Islamic Bank, Bassel Gamal.
